This blog
This blog announces changes and provides links to new pages and anthologies, new essays on the Innerlea website. so that returning readers there can find where all the wonderful new stuff is at — More like a newsletter than a blog, nevertheless some deep insights and thoughts may happen here; one can always hope. |
More prosaically, this isn't a blog in a strict sense at all. It is a constantly being rewritten advertisement or newletter for an accompanying website that specializes in teaching about poetry & recital; among other thing.
It uses recordings as a basis for understanding poetry, for seeing it as script for public performance; recital.
It specializes in traditional verse, studies its forms, in the hope of understanding the roots of poetry, and the general uses of form, rhyme & rhythm; phonetics & prosody.
From this traditionalist perspective, and through repeated listening and recurrent exposure to a canon of traditional English verse, it is hoped that the student/re-visitor acquires some understanding of traditional poetic practices, develops an interest in recital, and uses this knowledge in his or hers own writings.
